Xing Fu Tang - The Number 1 Milk Tea in Taiwan

The best Brown Sugar Milk Tea I've ever tasted was Xing Fu Tang in Taipei, Taiwan .   It's even called Taiwan's No.1 Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea... And for good reason!  The branch that I visited was hidden in a corner walking distance away from Ximen Station. A line of people gathered around the store. Usually, their service is fast so there's not that long of a wait.       My family and I ordered a variety of different drinks from Xing Fu Tang... Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea, Brown Sugar Boba Milk, and Taro Milk Tea on two different  occasions.     I've got to say, I love them all... But the Iced Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea holds a special place in my heart.         Their cream is so rich and thick, it's almost like melted ice cream... Actually, scrap that. It's like you're drinking chilled heavy cream. It's good.  Their boba is tender and chewy... Surprisingly, despite being fried in sugar it's not overwhelmingly sw...

Is Shake Shack (Philippines) worth visiting? | My Experience in Shake Shack in the USA, Hong Kong, and in the Philippines

My dear friend R went on a two month vacation in the United States. She toured around the country and when she came back this is what she told me... 'Z! If you ever go to the USA absolutely MUST eat at Shake Shack! Their shakes and burgers are SO good! Their milk shakes are thick and creamy and their burgers are JUST WOW...' - R I just smiled at her as she described how wonderful her experience was.  Trips to America were were expensive and there were no budget flights from the USA to the Philippines during that time. Flights like those would cost an arm and a leg, not to mention that would just be considering the flight cost... Living expense, travel expense, and other factors had to be considered as well. "One day..." I replied. Little did I know that the one day would come sooner than I thought.  SHAKE SHACK (New York, USA) In 2018, my dad was able to book our entire family a flight to the USA at an incredibly discounted rate. We travelled across the country and li...

Addiction Aquatic Development - King Crab, Deep Sea Abalone, and Fresh Salmon in Taiwan! (picnic time!)

Addiction Aquatic Development If you're a foodie looking for a great place to wrestle up some grub, the one place you MUST visit is Addiction Aquatic Development.  Why? Aside from being a giant complex dedicated to seafood... It's also... THE BEST PLACE FOR KING CRABS! That's right. I said it. King Crabs. The stuff you see on "The Deadliest Catch"... You see them LIVE swimming around in the tanks. You can buy them fresh or you can get them from the grocery... Chopped up, cooked, and served in more affordable portion sizes. IT'S A PLACE WHERE BUYING KING CRABS WON'T BREAK THE BANK! You can buy lobsters, Snow Crabs, and other different species of crustaceans as well. But I strongly recommend you buy King Crabs when you're here.  The price for crabs and lobsters start from NT$ 600 (PHP1, 006.75) to NT$ 3, 000 (PHP 5, 033.77) for a generous portion.  The crustaceans are boiled and their shells pre-cracked so you can easily access the sweet tender meat.  T...

Sushi Express - A Delicious and Affordable Conveyer Belt Sushi in Taipei, Taiwan

SUSHI EXPRESS If you ever find yourself craving for sushi in Taiwan, look no further than Sushi Express. Sushi Express is an affordable kaiten sushi or conveyor belt sushi chain in Taiwan. Each plate of sushi will only cost you NT$30 which is around PHP50.33 or US$1 . They have a wide variety of menu items which you can grab from their conveyor belt or order from a server.  Salmon and Salmon Roe (Ikura) I highly recommend their salmon and salmon roe sushi.  Aside from them being my personal favorites... Their salmon is fresh, meaty, and succulent. The flesh of the fish is absolutely tender and goes perfectly with the rice. The slices of fish on the salmon sushi are significantly better than the tuna sashimi. It's a classic and a definite must have. Salmon roe is my favorite type of sushi since it's very difficult to find and when I do find it... It's expensive. It's great to be able to eat salmon roe here in Sushi Express... It comes with a half slice of cucumber...

Mazendo - Authentic Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup and the Best Boiled Dumplings in Manila

Today, we’re featuring a Taiwanese restaurant called Mazendo! It’s my favorite boiled dumpling place.  I’ve been to this restaurant more than 10 times and I've brought friends and family here. I f you have that craving for an authentic Taiwanese beef noodle soup in Manila, Mazendo can definitely satisfy that craving. Here’s my menu recommendation for Mazendo.  Red Roast Beef Noodle Soup (P350) Oily, fatty, rich, well flavored, and delicious. Those are adjectives I’d use to describe the broth. The soup served in Mazendo is an authentic Taiwanese beef noodle soup down to its oil content to its flavor. If you’re conscious about the oil in soup, this might not be for you… But for a beef noodle soup, it’s so good I finish all the broth despite the oil. Hey, once in a while can’t hurt. You really taste the richness of the beef enhanced with the fragrance of the tomato base and Chinese spices.  Their noodles are thick almost udon like noodles. Chewy, springy and delic...

Ikomai & Tochi - Fancy Japanese fashion cuisine in Salcedo Village Makati (Philippines)

Looking for a fancy Japanese fusion restaurant? Look no further than Ikomai & Tochi! Located in Salcedo village Makati, Ikomai & Tochi is known for its Japanese food and tasty desserts. The restaurant is run by Filipino Chef James Antolin and Japanese Chef Hide Saeki. I’ve been to the restaurant around 4 times and this is what my family and I loved from their menu: Starters: Wafu Tuna Salad (P360) If you’re looking for a light starter, you should get the Wafu Tuna salad.  It has crisp, crunchy veggies, cherry tomatoes with pan seared tuna. Brought together with a classic Japanese vinaigrette.  It’s garnished with butterfly pea flowers, nuts and sesame seeds. The dish leaves a refreshing taste in the mouth because of their Wafu dressing as well as their ingredient combination.  Another salad I’d recommend is their Wasabi Salad (P370).  It has prawns and watermelons and a slight spicy kick.  Personally, ...
